Small Ships in Alaska

Cruise West

Cruise West was founded to provide up-close travel that focuses on the destination ~ scenery, wildlife, natural history and cultures ~ and attracts participants who prefer whale watching to spending an afternoon in a casino.

Cruise West was started by Alaska tourism pioneer Chuck West in 1973 and now offers small ship cruising to Alaska, the Snake and Columbia Rivers, California Wine Country, the east coast from Florida to Maine, British Columbia, Mexico, the Sea of Cortez, Costa Rica, Panama, Asia, Japan, the South Pacific, and in 2007 further expansions to Korea, China and Vietnam.

Distinctive and unique destinations and thoughtful itineraries are the trademarks of Cruise West. Each ship has naturalists, special guest lecturers and historical experts on board. Guests tend to be curious and yearning for an enriching experience in a casual setting. Small ships offer the flexibility of stopping to observe a pod of whales or to observe locals fishing in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. Demand for quality small ship cruising is at record levels, and Cruise West is not only a pioneer but an exceptional cruise line.

We look forward to describing additional small ships to Alaska in this portion of our website soon. There are many!
